Each next smartphone coming in the market brings something new and with some technical advancement so that it cannot only make its place in the market rather to give tough competition to already existing popular handsets. Similarly, Samsung after reaching the heights of the success with its latest Galaxy S2, now decided to take its Galaxy series to the next level by adding one more smartphone to its product line. As per a post by a popular online magazine known as MacWorld UK, Samsung is going to launch its next smartphone named as Galaxy Skin with flexible screen using the OLED technology making it possible. OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diodes.
The post by the eMagazine states:
Samsung Electronics said Friday that it is aiming to launch mobile phones with flexible displays next year, with tablets and other portable devices to have these displays soon after.
Samsung has shown flexible OLED (organic light emitting diode) displays inside rigid cases that kept the screens curved. The technology has material within each pixel that generates light, making it perhaps more suitable for flexible screens than LCDs, which would require both a flexible screen and a backlight.
Samsung announced that its next smartphone Galaxy Skin introducing Flexible display will be launched in the early 2012.
“The flexible display, we are looking to introduce sometime in 2012, hopefully the earlier part,” said spokesman Robert Yi during an earnings call. “The application probably will start from the handset side.”
Yi said tablets and other mobile devices with flexible displays would follow.”
The introduction of flexible display by next Samsung smartphone is going to bring the revolution in the market and will take the competition level to the next level. Moreover, it will be very interesting to see that whether this handset to be launched next year will be able to compete with the iPhone 5, which is also expected to get launched somewhere in the next year.
